Princess Alphabet

I'd long considered a princess alphabet. I knew there weren't enough choices if you just looked at the princesses that most little girls think of when they play dress up, but by tapping into more pop culture icons for inspiration, I was was able to complete all 26 letters. This was even with giving myself the extra challenge of only adding actual princesses, not just characters that are princess-like.

What was especially fun about this was realizing that there are actually a wider range of princesses out there than when you first think of the term "princess."

Good luck guessing who is who. You'll need to consider movies, TV, comic books, video games and books. I'll give you one: Q is Qing Dynasty Princess.

EDIT: A new Princess Alphabet (with 100% more Elsa) now available.

Springfield Follicles

I've always been amazed at the vast scope of personalities, professions and characters depicted on The Simpsons. So many characters have made such a lasting impression.

With this design, I wanted to emphasize the iconic nature of these characters by illustrating how identifiable they are even if only looking at their hair (okay, and some hats).

Each figure represents a different Springfieldian. How many can you identify?

The Periodic Table of the Muppets

A comprehensive depiction of many memorable Muppet characters from throughout the years (and some not-so-memorable ones as well).

Each square represents a different character and indicates the primary Muppeteer(s) for that character, as well as the year and production in which the character made its debut. Borders align with hair/hat colour, background aligns with skin/fur colour, and colour of the abbreviated name represents nose colour (for characters with noses that is).

The separate sections are based on the show the characters were either created for or most often associated with. The icons within each section are then organized by year of creation.

A Fraggle ROCK

I couldn’t come up with enough characters for a full alphabet, but I knew I could still do a Fraggle “ROCK”. Sorry Mokey.

TMNT ABCs (New and Improved)

They are heroes in a half shell... and all the letters of the alphabet.

I decide to take another swing at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles alphabet, adjusting some of the designs that I wasn't too pleased with the first time around. All of the characters here have at least minor tweaks, mostly by giving them more detail and/or shading. I was also pretty happy to find Quarry as a new Q since I really didn't like my original choice. Still a bit disappointed that I had to choose between Shredder and Splinter though.

The original can still be found here.

Marvelphabet

I'd long considered doing a superhero-themed alphabet but I'd resisted for a variety of reasons, including the sheer immense scope of the superhero universe and the fact that there were other similar pieces out there.

Ultimately, however, superheroes and comics were such an important part of my childhood that I couldn't ignore them. So I added a bit of a challenge: I wanted to represent 26 heroes and 26 villains from a specific universe. I wanted to stick to their face and upper torso only (which meant, among other things, no wheelchair for "X" or extra arms for "o")

Introducing.... the Marvelphabet:

Also available in straight hero and villain versions:

Have fun guessing who is who.
